Dylan C. Penningroth, professor of History and Law at the University of California, Berkeley will deliver the Henry King Stanford Distinguished Professors Lecture Series 2017-1018. The noted historian studies African- American history and U.S. socio-legal history. He was the recipient of the 2012 MacArthur Fellowship for “exceptional originality in and dedication to their creative pursuits.”
The lecture, titled “Law for a Gospel Church: African American Culture 1865-1970,” will rethink the role of law in African-American life and black people’s contributions to American law. The lecture is free and open to the public.
